Oooh, what a gorgeous day! Our local meteorologist gave some sage advice: “enjoy it.” Rain most of the week, then the typical Thunder Over Louisville weather next weekend (blustery and in the 50s). But that’s not here or there. What is here is a celebration of my birthday, and of 1984. Here’s the next song that’s turning 40 this year.
Robert De Niro’s Waiting… - Bananarama
Reference one of my favorite movies and I’ll pay attention! Apparently I was the only one, though. While Bananarama had considerable success in the U.S. with songs like “Cruel Summer,” “I Heard a Rumour,” and their #1 remake of “Venus,” this was a chart bomb.
Sad, because it’s my favorite single of theirs. (I told y’all my music tastes were weird! 
) The song deals with date rape in a different way, and the video (especially the ending) is a hoot.
