Watching Monk for the first time. Laughed in the very first minute!

I had a long sleep. Which is good. But soon as I woke I felt sick. It really gets me down. I'm very tired of feeling this way. In fact, I still feel tired as if I didn't sleep much but I know I did. I fell asleep yesterday afternoon around 4pm and woke at 2am this morning. I also have a sore-dry throat with a cough so I don't know what that's all about. I had a viral infection recently but was given the clear not all the long ago. *shrugs* I don't know anymore. Maybe the sore-dry throat is from the Endoscopy? Or maybe I'm getting a cold now? I don't know. It's frustrating and depressing really. I haven't felt "my normal" in over 6 months. But I decided to just take it easy today. I want to MyLot mostly. But felt like watching something new and I remembered I saw Monk on Netflix. I have always wanted to watch it. I had always heard if was funny but I am curious how much I can relate to the character as he suffers with OCD. I just put it on and within the first minute he said something that made me laugh as well as feeling I could relate. This isn't a spoiler but obviously if you prefer not to know then I understand you not reading ahead. But very first scene, Monk is standing in a crime scene. He looks up and says "The stove." As if he was having a moment of knowing what happened in this crime scene. Another cop(?) was like "Over here. It's in the kitchen." Then Monk was like "No, I mean my stove. I think I left it on." I laughed so much because it was not the time or place but that's how OCD can be. These intrusive thoughts take over out of nowhere and they are hard to shake off. But I thought this was a brilliant way to introduce the Monk character. I'm at a part now where he is in therapy and there's a pillow out of place on the lounge and it's bothering him. Again, I can so relate. There's been many times walking in a grocery store where I see items upside down or backwards and I fix it. Just makes me feel better. Have you seen Monk? Please don't tell me anything though because this is literally my first time watching it.

Sorry about the way you have been feeling over the last six months. I have heard very good feedback about Monk. And after reading your post, I feel like watching it more.

@VivaLaDani13 I will surely check for it. I am right now with my mom enjoying my vacation. Once I am back from here by end of April, I will get back to my weekend ritual of watching movies. Monk would be the first one to be watched.

It is very possible that the sore throat is from the endoscopy, do not feel down, may be tomorrow you will be fine. Is the Monk a series? This sounds interesting.

@VivaLaDani13 I am very glad you are better now. I remember that Mom always had a sore throat the day after endoscopy.

@LadyDuck Thank you. I remember you saying your mum had several of them. I forgot to ask (if it's ok to ask), was this due to having to need them routinely for awhile? Or were they for different reasons?

@LadyDuck I would say so. My throat is a lot better now. Thank you kindly. Yeah it's a series. I believe it started in the early 2000's.

I don't know this show but it sounds good. I've read a few books lately about people with OCD/autism/et al and they do give you a greater insight into how the condition affects people's lives. Hopefully I'm a bit more tolerant and understanding through having read about such things. I hope you start to feel better soon.

@JudyEv It started in the early 2000's I believe so quite some time ago now since it was aired on TV. Yes it is very hard to deal with and the obsessions and severity of it varies from person to person. May I please ask, did you read them for a purpose or just because? And is it ok to ask what books they were? Like were they to help people with OCD? Thank you kindly.

@VivaLaDani13 I came across the books accidentally really but they gave me a greater insight into some conditions. The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time dealt with autism, Addition was about a young woman with OCD, Small Great Things by Jodi Picoult dealt with racism in America. They all made me more aware of some of the difficulties people with these 'conditions' (for want of a better word) face.

@JudyEv aw ok I see, thank you for explaining. I am glad the books helped you become more aware of certain things. I think it's good for anyone to learn about anything that we don't suffer with just incase we meet anyone dealing with them and just in general to broaden the mind of things.

@2ndchances24 That is fair enough. I haven't gone back to that show yet but intend to soon. I found it enjoyable. I also got a liking for another show called "Derry Girls." Love that Irish accent so much! Good show too!

You can have lukewarm water or something hot like tea to soothe your throat. When you have something shoved down your throat, you tend to get a dry, sore or painful throat. I just finished watching "Wednesday" on Netflix. It was fun.
