Book returned to a library in Colorado

I have reported on this site stories of overdue books that were returned to the library after a long time away.. However an unknown female dropped off a library book that was checked out of the Fort Collins Public Library in February 19, 1919 returned a book that was written by Sir Walter Scott named Ivanhoe just before National Library Week which runs from April 7 through April 13. The female who returned the book back to the public library mentioned that her brother found the missing book among their mother's belongings in Kansas. The good news is that since the public library does not fine anyone for bringing in an overdue book since 2020. The fine would have been around $760 dollars. Link is upi.com/5441712780661

Very interesting story. I wonder if the library even still wants it. They seem to get rid of old books a lot.

@kobesbuddy I know. And if you donate a book, it has to be within 5 years old.

A heavy fine for not returning a book that was not charged is a relief for the person who checked out the book.

It's good that he wasn't charged for the overdue book. It was a long time being returned though.

Even though it was somewhat late, making the effort to return it was still a nice deed. Her mother, who had borrowed it, would probably be pleased to hear that it has already been put back where it belongs.

That might be some type of a record. It was lucky that they only found, and returned, the book now, rather than before 2020, as a fine of that order would have been a hard thing to swallow too, for just returning an old book to the library.
