Here's a YouTube video You Really Need to Watch

I just watched a YouTube entitled "Illegal to Sleep". It really was an eye-opener. This one lady had lost her son and was now homeless. She has gotten 30 situations in a year and a half. Each one is hundreds of dollars. Someone took all her things and so she lost the few pictures she had of her son.
These people in the Grant's Pass area are being ticketed if they are living homeless in certain areas. She's on the HUD list that has 6-8 month waiting list. Many people living homeless are elderly, people with mental issues, and those who can't pay the high rents in the area. They have to leave and go to new areas about every 4 or 5 days.
One lady had her home burn down and now needs a ventilator but she can't run it living outdoors. People are mean to them and take their belongings. A higher-up in the local government says they want to make it so difficult for them that they leave (but where do they go?) Where are the programs and low-income housing? If we were evicted from my home here we would have nowhere to go. We have no family here or friends who could help us. We would also be homeless.

They need to set up some housing for low-income people. I am sure fortunate to have Section 8.

@rebelann ......Section 8 is a program set up for poor folks by the Department of Housing and Urban Development. You can get your name put on a list and receive a voucher and they help you with your rent.

I think I'll give it a pass. I hear about the homeless here every day. At least our city has put up temporary housing for them and has told the police to not harrass the people in tents.

It is very sad that no one cares about these people and that there is no way to help them, I think even those welfare hotels and such places they set up in NYC for people who might wind up on the street are even better than actually being out in the open even though the places are not the best,

Homelessness is a scary thing. More needs to be done. I could never live on the streets in the winter time. I couldn't do it.

Why local government don't show sympathy to the homeless,the local officials so heartless.The homeless are pathetic,they lost home,have nowhere to go.Last place for living is being carried away.I am worrying how the homeless survive from present plight.Pray for the pathetic ppl,if they have money,have job,nobody would like to be homeless.

It's horrible. Why don't people have more empathy and care for these people?
