Had to return the sneakers

The Nike sneakers that I ordered Monday from Dick’s Sporting Goods were delivered the next day. I was very surprised it took that fast.
The shipping box they came in was way bigger than the sneakers. There was no packing slip or order receipt inside. Instead of being in a box they were in a plastic bag. They weren’t wrapped in any paper. And they were not stuffed with anything inside either. There was no price tag on them, which I found weird.
I cut open the plastic bag and looked over the sneakers. One of them was bunched up close to where the Nike logo is. And they were slightly dirty there as well. There was no way I was going to keep them. They had to go back.
I went to the store to return them. They didn’t have these sneakers in the store so couldn’t do an exchange for another pair. Went to the register for a refund. It was successful, however, the refund amount that is supposed to go back to my credit card included only the price I bought the sneakers for. The $8.99 I paid for shipping wasn’t refunded. At least according to the receipt the cashier gave me.
I don’t know if that was an oversight or if that’s their return policy, that you don’t get the shipping fee refunded when making returns. Either way, it’s upsetting that I lost $8.99. And on top of that I don’t have the sneakers I really wanted.

Sorry you didn't get the shoes you wanted. I didn't get the shoes I wanted either. I told you I was thinking Puma or Adidas. Well we went to another store than the one we were going to and the puma shoes didn't fit good and my mother didn't like the adidas I wanted to get. I ended up getting some Under Armor shoes. I like them.

Bummer. Hate when that happens. My mom wants me to look at QC sneakers. Says they are super comfortable.

I did not find anything on their website about refunding the shipping fee or not. I can understand a customer having to pay a shipping charge to mail back the merchandise. But if I am bringing it back to the store shouldn't they refund me what I had originally spent on shipping?

I don’t know if they were worn or not. The bottom of the shoes were clean. Maybe it was a manufacturing defect.

I will have to wait and see when the refund finally shows up in my credit card account. But doesn’t seem like they give back the money spent on shipping.

@LadyDuck got an email from my credit card. Refund was processed. And it doesn’t include the shipping based on the amount I see.

It sounds like they shipped you shoes that had already been worn. I guess they were hoping you wouldn’t notice. Like you, I would have been suspicious if they were shipped to me the way you described. It sucks that you are now out of a pair of shoes and the shipping charges.

The bottom of the sneakers was clean save for a few spots that weren’t. I was willing to overlook that but not the damage that is visible.

Many places don't return the shipping fee. I'm sorry you weren't able to get a replacement.

I usually never buy something unless I can get free shipping. I really wanted these sneakers so decided to just pay for delivery. Good to know shipping is usually not refunded. Thanks.

I don’t have the sneakers I wanted.
And the $8.99 shipping fee I don’t get back. But at least they refunded me the money.

Nope. If I order from this place again and there is an issue with the sneakers I will lose my shipping again. I have not been able to find these sneakers at a place I'd actually order from. I did find them on Amazon but the seller is not Amazon itself and they were way more expensive than what I paid for them the first time around.
