Do you think Donald Trump will actually do time?

I just watched this video of a former prosecutor discussing whether Donald Trump will actually spend time in prison if he is convicted in the current trial. Many of us are hoping he does not get away with "home confinement" or "probation." Trump pouting away his lavish compound in Florida would not be much of a deterrent to others who might consider his level of criminal activity. Do you think Trump will actually see the inside of a prison cell? Even the prisons for white collar criminals are pretty luxurious. Trump's former attorney and "fixer," Michael Cohen, admitted this. I hope you will watch the video. The guy knows his stuff.

Not with this case. I pray one of the other trials will start before the election.

@TheHorse Very hard to prove with lying Michael Cohen as the star witness..and Trump giving "orders" like the mobster he is.

I think they have to show that his payoffs and catch and skill schemes were at least in part to affect the election outcome.

@snowy22315 Exactly. Can a chronic liar like Michael Cohen help convict another chronic liar like Donald Trump? But the fact remains that Cohen did time for Trump. And so did.is that Weiselberg fella (however it's spelled). And several others, I believe. .

Depends on how long this goes on for. I don't think he will, though.

I don't think the jury will have to deliberate too long on this one. A good case was made.

@TheHorse Even if tere is a conviction, I still doubt he'll actually do time. This case has been going on for how long now?

The law requires does not require the Judge to imprison Trump, if he is convicted by a jury. He judge could instead sentence him to probation. Further, if Trump is convicted, he will surely appeal, a process that could take months or longer. Do not hold your breath, any appeal will not be resolved before Election Day.

@TheHorse - I have never seen a politician in jail in Europe... even the ex-French President Sarkozy, who has been found guilty, served any jail time.

He can be ordered to be imprisoned during the appeal. I would love to see that.

That is my worry as well. I do not know whether a judge can order incarceration pending appeal.

That may have been the same video I watched. I really doubt he will do time. If so it won't be long enough to satisfy me. He won't be able to do business in NY for quite a while. And, he will be watched for a time too. But, him being an ex-president they will treat him with kid gloves. I hope he loses a lot of his holdings and is finally made to pay ALL of the money he owes, not just part of it. The judges all seem to wait until the last possible amount of time has elapsed before charging him with contempt. It's all become a circus and the courts have to use kid gloves on li'l Donny. If he gets any books thrown at him and then gets elected it's all for nothing anyway. I just hope the courts fine him out of existence and, take as much of his holdings away as possible. I doubt he'll see any time and, if he does, it will be somewhere away from any other prisoners and he will have security all around him. It will be a pretty big joke if he does.
