Do you call an electrician, or do it by yourself?

Hello friends Yesterday night my computer speakers stopped working. It wasn't a shocking news to me because I had some basic knowledge on fixing electronics. This morning after doing my morning routine and preparing the equipment for mushroom planting, I decided to fix it. Luckily it is now working, it was a simple stuff that I could do without calling an electrician. My question is, do you call electrician every time when a small breakdown of electronic occurs or do you do it by yourself?

I don't immediately look for an electrician. I sometimes just look it up at YouTube. If it works, then great; but if it doesn't, then that's the time to raise the white flag.

I have a friend who is an expert in electronics. He does all the IT work at a local university, and every time I have a problem with my computer or smartphone, I call him. He’ll fix it, and, of course, won’t charge me. My dad has done a lot for him, so he feels like helping me for free is a way to pay him back. I’m very grateful as I am not good with technology, and don’t have money to pay anything.

I only changed the light switch once, safety is very important, and repairing the machine is the same. Be sure to unplug the power. I haven't encountered anything else before. If it's too complicated, I will pay someone to repair it.

For something like this I would have not called an electrician. If it was something with the electric plugs of the house or an appliances, I would have called an electrician.

@thebos There are things we are not allowed to do ourselves in Switzerland, for security reasons. Yes I learnt physics in school.

@thebos No, I didn't do physics at school. We'd call an expert for any tricky jobs.
