This book is only 183 pages, but it's such a warm story. The author is Jerry Spinelli, who lives in Pennsylvania with his poet/ author wife, Eileen Spinelli. This book is a New York Times Bestseller.
The story-line is about a young teenage girl. She dresses different, acts different and basically doesn't even notice, that she doesn't fit in with the other kids. Stargirl was happy, to just be herself.
She finally meets a boy, who lets Susan know that her behavior is creating problems. Stargirl does everything in her human power to change her image. Yet, the other children still reject her as a fellow-student.
Her boyfriend realizes that Susan is no longer the happy-go-lucky girl that she was. Susan was no longer the genuine person, that she enjoyed being. Were the bad attitudes changed towards her? Nope!
This is a good book, I'm not finished reading it yet.

I like these kinds of stories of characters that are considered different from the main characters.

She is considered an odd ball, exactly how I was viewed while growing up:)

@Deepizzaguy I was poor and couldn't wear stylish clothes every day. At times, I got made fun of, by other girls. This experience molded my character. I need to forgive, but I'll never forget.

Yes, the girl was trying to please everyone else, but lost her own identity.

Sounds like an interesting story, I am presently rereading my series on Bridge Jone's Diary since I have the DVDs and can watch the movies but some things were left out from the books and I want to catch up, They are filming a fourth movie in this series in London now so I am looking forward to when that comes out,

Susan(without letting anyone know), moved out of town with her parents. Never again was she ever heard from. Fifteen years later, Leo received an anonymous gift. Guess who sent it?

Susan reminded me of Pollyanna, she was a Walt Disney sweetheart. Everywhere she went, the sun shined brighter and the stars in heaven were more magnificent.

At times I couldn't imagine, what kept Susan so vibrant and happy. Most of the kids were mean to her, then she'd do something kind in return.

That flower was growing in our yard, a rental house we lived in last summer.
