That Juicy, Yummy Fruit.....

Has more to it than you might think. Yes, watermelon. I love the color and how juicy and tasty it is. But, it's not only a pretty shade of red but it is a fruit with lycopene in it which is an antioxidant. It may help those with diabetes or cancer. It has more lycopene than any other fruit or vegetable. Be sure to pick the watermelon that is red in color, not orange or yellow. The seedless type tends to have the most lycopene in it also. It is too early for watermelon, but I always buy during summer. Tomato juice has the highest concentration of lycopene 22 per cup, watermelon 13 per hedge.

What I read was that watermelon has more than even tomatoes. About 40% more of the same amount or weight. The riper the redder and the more lycopene it will have.

@celticeagle This proves that we cannot really trust what we read, Wikipedia is the one that says that tomato juice has a higher concentration.

@celticeagle yes, they are summer special fruit...even if it is available on other seasons, it doesnt bear that much sweetness or juice as it does during the summers
