Very Bad Weather Here Tuesday

I didn't get to post yesterday because when we got home from picking up hubby's compressor, we had NO electricity! A storm blew through and left quite a large area without electricity late yesterday afternoon. Ours stayed out all night long and did not come back on until around 11 am this morning. I also learned that a tornado went along Hwy. 24 from Gloster (east of me to McComb which is west of me). Some of those people are going to be without power for several days, due to the number of trees down on power lines. I had boutique duty today, so left right after the electricity came back on. I decided to get ready and go and relieve the morning worker early because her husband had a stroke this past Saturday. Have you had any bad storms pass through your area lately or tornadoes? It's annoying being without electricity. I always think it would be a good time to catch up on the ironing (when I used to have ironing) but then I'd realise I didn't have electricity!

Right and I don't think you would want to do it with spray bottle and corn starch!!

Same. Only for me it was the vacuuming I would think I could do. We don't have water when the power goes off, so limited what we can get done.

My area in Lake Charles had to deal with a tornado that knocked out telephone and internet for about two days and nights about two months ago. Electric power was knocked out for about one hour.

I think that was the same one that got my daughter's area in Erwinville!! That's rough with our heat!

@kareng It could have been since the tornado struck in the college campus area of Lake Charles before it vanished.

How sad your one workers husband has had a stroke. Did anything ruin when you were without electricity overnight? So sad for the people who will be without it for days.

Yes, he seems to be recovering well though. No, we were lucky and had a lot of stuff in there. That helped keep it all cold longer. I think a few more hours though and we would have been tossing things.

All of this severe weather happening, and none of it seems to be reaching Florida (or at least where I am). We are in desperate need of rain. I hate to say this--because it will spike our humidity levels to unbearable levels--but we really need our rainy season to start!

I'm sorry you were without electricity and had a tornado pass through. We had a bad storm a week or so ago. We learned there were two tornado touchdowns. One just south of Green Bay, about a half hour. And the other up in Door County, about an hour + from here.

@just4him We have had a couple of pretty days in a row now. We needed it to dry out after that last big storm on Monday. We still have some wet areas in the yard, but hubby managed to get the yard mowed today.

Tornado touched down about 30 km from me on Monday. It damaged one house. We had amazing clouds, and steadily rolling thunder. But no rain or wind.

@paigea We live in an area that is called "tornado alley" here. They are very common!

@kareng Damaging ones are few and far between as there's lots of wIde open space here. Ones that tear through a large area are fairly rare. We have many tornado watches throughout the summer.
