So it was time for another movie. This time a movie named Wonka, which got released in 2023 and for which yours truly had a plan to see in the movie hall. Yet for reasons I cannot recall (may be festival time or Offline issues) I missed it. I saw it recently after buying it on Rent on YouTube for INR 150. The movie is about a young guy - Willy Wonka who comes to a Town via ship and has dreams of selling his Chocolates - that make people levitate (fly). He takes refuge in Mrs Scrubit's place who dupes him in signing a contract for Stay at a price which is too high. Wonka goes to the public next day and shows his special chocolates but a Chocolate Manufacturing cartel of 3 manages to get his plans averted by calling police and implicating him. Back to his refuge place, Wonka is trapped to work on the Laundry department of Mrs Scrubit for years. Things take one turn after another. Wonka manages to open a store, and the public finds his chocolates very good. However, the cartel again manages to disrupt and makes Wonka leave the town, with deals for him and his other friends who had also been trapped in the Laundry department of Mrs Scrubit. Things take more turn. In the end, the cartel and their Police friend - The Chief are exposed for their years of malafide tie up. Wonka brings on board the funny Midget Oompa-Loompa to taste his chocolate creations. Overall, a nice entertainer and great for kids as well. I like Timothée Chalamet as Wonka and Calah Lane as Noodle. The movie made almost 5 times of its budget and the interesting part is that it is a musical (some Bollywood similarities !! ) So well, here was a rather detailed review - something that I have done after a long time !
