I've been to the little Tesco this morning. (11/6/2024)

I actually went to the little Tesco this morning! My weather app said rain at 9:00am, with a little lightning bolt symbol underneath a cloud symbol, then at 10:00am and 11:00am there was a cloud symbol with a sun peaking out, and then at 12:00 midday there was another cloud symbol with a little lightning bolt symbol underneath it! So I told my Mum I had a window at 10:00am and 11:00am when I could go to the shop. My Mum gave me her shopping list, club card and £40 and off I went. I still wore one of my macs with a hood just incase. When I got to the shop I got 2 of the TV magazines as usual, and also a Radio Times for me because it's got a Doctor Who cover and an article or two about the two part finale of Doctor Who inside. Then I got some kitchen roll which was just on the shelf opposite. Then I went down the crisps and sweets isle, the fresh bakery section is at the end of this isle. I got my Mum and Syd some custardy tarty things, and put them in one of the brown paper bags supplied. Then I turned round and got a bounty bar for Syd from the other side of the isle. Then I also got some liquorice allsorts. After that I went and got some organic bananas, and then I got some strawberries. I could see most of them had today's date on them. I thought mmmm. Then I picked one of them up and saw that underneath were some with 13 June on, so.I got one of those. Then I got some Alpen with no added sugar for my Mum. Next I went to get the milk. But I saw that the 2 pint bottles were sold out. So instead I either needed to get 1 large 4 pint bottle or 4 small 1 pint bottles. The large 4 pint bottle was £1.55 whereas the small 1 pint bottles were 90p each. I worked out that getting 4 small 1 pint bottles would cost £3.60! (Tell me if I'm wrong, I'm no good at maths!) So I took the large 4 pint bottle. Then I got some honey roasted peanuts, and went to pay. I was in a small queue, but when I got to the front of the queue the lady moved a pile of baskets from off the space where the baskets go so I could put my very heavy basket there. It cost just over £26! After I'd payed I set off for home again. As I was coming up the road just passed my church there was a taxi stopped infront of the houses there. The taxi driver opened his car door as I approached and the car door covered the whole of the path. Then I saw a little old lady coming from her house with her walker and 2 large shopping bags. The taxi driver closed his car door and the lady came up to the back of the car where the taxi driver was going to put her walker in the boot for her. I waited until the little lady was at the back of the car before I went passed. The little old lady gave me a wave in thanks for waiting. When the little old lady had passed to the back of the car, I went passed. It didn't rain on me at all! When I got home I told my Mum about having to get a large 4 pint bottle of milk instead of a couple of 2 pint ones. Then I gave her her change, shopping list and club card. Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. I sat and read the TV magazine for a bit, watched Homes Under the Hammer and had my lunch. Now I'm watching The Joy of Painting with Bob Ross on Sky Arts (Freeview channel 36) What are you lot getting up to today? I hope you are all well. Have a nice day.

I hope it's not a problem storing in the refrigerator the bigger milk container. I am glad you did not get rain while you were outside shopping.

@sharonelton - I am glad, it would be a problem for our refrigerator.

No, it's fine, it can fit in the door of the fridge sideways. Thank you very much, I'm glad too.

@LadyDuck It's the 4 pint one. That can fit in our fridge sideways. There is a bigger one, I don't know how many pints that contains, but that would be too big for our fridge.

Sunday I got some strawberries too. We also got some more mulch. My great-aunt gave us some blackberries so I got some raspberries to try. They didn't have any celery so we went to another Walmart to get it. Today I got the mail and got a ThreadUp bag. ThreadUp is a company where you giveaway clothes.

@JESSY3236 We have a letter box in our front door! If a parcel is too big to go through the door, the delivery man will ring the doorbell and hand us our parcel.

I like having strawberries after my breakfast. I'm glad you could get some more mulch. I like blackberries and raspberries, but the seeds stick in your teeth! I'm glad you could get some celery from the other Walmart. You have to collect your mail rather than have it sent to your house? I hope you like the ThreadUp bag. I give my unwanted clothes to the Oxfam shop.

@sharonelton I got to go to Big Tesco today. It was lovely being there and I had cause to use the facilities - the lavatorial ones. That however was a story in itself because when I went in I was quite thrown because I thought that, in spite of carefully examining at the figures on the doors, I thought that I'd gone into the ladies. The reason for this was that it smelled very perfumy and there was a vase or flowers at each of the two wash hand basins along with fragranced soap. It really was most disconcerting, and there were no other people there to give an indication of which gender this facility was for. But it really was for gentlemen to my relief.

I sometimes use the loo in the big Tesco too! I usually use the disabled loo, which is unisex!

We always buy the 2-litre size milk. Anything bigger won't fit in the door of the fridge which is where we like to keep them. We've become creatures of habit in our old age.

The bigger 4 pint bottles do fit in the door of our fridge sideways, so that's OK. Yes, we do get into the habbit of doing certain things.
