What we did in art class today. (13/6/2024)

It was art class day again today. My taxi arrived to pick me up dead on 1:30pm again. It was another different Asian chap today. When I got to the Wall Village Hall I gave the taxi driver £8 so he gave me 20p in change. But it was all in coppers and 5p pieces, and I dropped 2 5p pieces and couldn't find them! The taxi driver helped me find one of them, but I couldn't find the other, so he gave me another 5p in coppers. When I got out of the taxi I found the other 5p piece on the seat, so I said I'd found it and gave it back to him.
When I went in Tina, our tutor, said that the taxi driver had turned up at the Hall again instead of coming to my house to pick me up! And he still managed to get to my house just on time!
I went to the toilet and then I made myself a cup of tea using one of my own matcha T-bags that I brought from home. It was Tina's birthday so she'd brought cup cakes for us! I had a cup cake with pink icing and a chocolate digestive.
We were doing fish today using the negative painting technique. We wet our paper and then dropped in splodges of watercolour paint and let it spread out on the paper. (This is called the wet in wet technique.) We kept adding different colours this way. We could use various methods to add texture. We could sprinkle salt on or we could sprinkle brusho on which makes very bright colours, or we could press cling film on to make a crinkly texture. I decided to sprinkle salt on mine.
Then we let it dry. Mine was taking ages to dry, so I went and used the hairdryer to dry it off. Then we drew our fish on over the base layer. We could either draw our fish in freehand or trace them. I did mine freehand. Then we painted another layer of paint on, but painting around the fish, not painting the fish themselves. I used a dilute mix of ultramarine blue for this. This layer was done wet on dry, so it was quicker at drying. When that layer was dry we drew some more fish, some of which could be underneath the fish already there, because these fish are lower down. Then we went over the background again, this time not painting any of the fish, the older fish or the newer fish. I did this third layer in prussian blue. Then again we left it to dry. When that was dry I drew in some stones or rocks. But by this time it was time to pack up. But the idea is to do the background again but this time don't paint over any of the fish or the rocks. Then we would do some more rocks and do the background again as before, so you're doing it in layers.
I went to the toilet 3 times during the course of this. My taxi driver came at 4:50pm so I left him waiting outside for 15 minutes! It was an English fella this time. He came in to announce he was here!
We went and put our pictures on the floor so that everyone could look at them. Our tutor said we will be having the 4th of July off because it's voting day that day and they are using Wall Village Hall as a polling station. But we will have an extra week added at the end (which will be 1st August) and we will do what we would have done in week 9 on that day. This is because if we had a day off on the Thursday but the Friday people still had theirs the following day, the following week us Thursday people would be a week behind the Friday people. So it makes more sence to have the Thursday and Friday people have a day off that week, and then we all have an extra week at the end on 1 August.
We were told that next week we will be doing waterlillies in watercolour. So then I packed up and went outside to my taxi driver who I think was a bit impatient!
It was pouring down with rain when I got out, so it was a good job I had my mac with the hood on with me!
The taxi was one of those van things that you can put a wheelchair in. He used a sat-nav to tell him where to go!
After a while the guy said, You're a bit quiet! And I said I'm enjoying listening to the sat-nav! He said, Yeah, you'd think I'd know wouldn't you, I did work for a furniture removals company for so many years. And I said, My Uncle used to own a furniture removals company, Charle's Hine and sons! And the taxi driver turned to me and said, That's where I used to work! And I said, Small world, isn't it?
So I paid the guy with a £10 note and got £2.20 change. I went into the house and told my Mum all about my taxi driver.
I had my dinner and a cup of tea and watched some telly. I got out today's painting and showed my Mum. Then I took the picture that you see avove.
So, what have you lot been getting up to today?
I hope you are all well.
Have a great night.

@sharonelton I hope you can finish it on July 4th so you can show it here.

Thank you very much. I'm glad you find it interesting. I'll probably finish it on 4th July when we have a day off for polling day.
Yes, it was a bit if a coincidence, wasn't it?

@sharonelton What do you do with all the lovely paintings? Are they all on your walls? Elections really do mess things up when they happen. My polling station is a primary school so the kids get the day off but then that day gets taken off their summer holidays. Today I have to wait in for a new oven. Will it arrive? Who knows.

@sharonelton Oven man has been and gone. It only took him 20 minutes to remove the old one, put it in his van then instal the new one.

Some are in a pile in my bedroom, and the ones I'm currently doing at art class are in a display folder.

That's a really great painting. I'm going to get my blood drawn and drop off a sample and then we are going to see my husband. Have a good weekend.
