View From My Side- What's Wrong with Colleges and Universities Today

With all the commotion happening on Colleges and Universities today one has to wonder what a portion of students enrolled there are majoring in these days. It seems to me whatever social issue arises; these students prefer to protest rather than study.
What could be the root causes of all this social unrest on campus? Let's take a look at the disturbing trends not usually mentioned in mainstream media (if at all), that I believe are contributing to this chaos...
First, we must examine the most recent protests in support of Hamas and Palestine, before identifying more closely some of the contributing factors which leads to so much campus unrests these days...
***REASONS FOR COLLEGE PROTESTS AND VIOLENCE- HAMAS AND PALESTINE
1. Pro Hamas and Palestinian protest rallies have become violent in part because University and College Presidents have been lenient in enforcement of unruly behavior, allowing students to block access to campus facilities and letting them put up tent cities on campus grounds.
2. These campus grounds and school facilities have been blocked off by radical protestors, some who are paid by leftist organizations and not affiliated with the school. Nothing was initially done to break up these mobs and allow students to use the facilities like the library to study for their exams. This should never have been condoned by College/University Administrators, and these students should have been expelled for threatening and intimidating undergrads.
*Students at college are there to learn and enjoy campus life. Those areas of campus should be open to all students, they should not be forcefully restrained from using them by political agitators. Afterall, they paid to use the facilities on campus.
***ATTACKS ON JEWISH STUDENTS, DEATH TO ISRAEL, AND DESTRUCTION OF PROPERTY
1. Israel has a right to defend itself. What happened to many of those woman and children, a lot of them elderly, was horrific. Hamas raping, murdering, mutilating, and taking hostages could not go unpunished. Israel was provoked into taking action to rid their country of these "evil doers" and to keep them safe from future attacks. Those protesting students with the support of radical faculty members and leftist media have turned the Jewish people into a scapegoat.
2. I've noticed many of these student agitators wearing masks something robbers, Antifa or the KKK would do to disguise themselves when doing harm. It makes me wonder, if your cause to support Hamas and Palestine is so serious and righteous, why hide your face?
*My theory is these agitators are no better than the 1 percent who were violent on January 6th, the only difference is the amount of them involved is higher, and they will not be imprisoned for their violence.
3. Many of these protestors turned to violent measures not peaceful protest. Campuses like UCLA had buildings and sidewalks defaced with spray paint and windows broken. When administrators finally gave the police the go ahead to remove the encampments, the protestors clashed with them. How does that gain sympathy for your cause?
4. Protestors using hate speech and violence against U.S. Jewish people and students. This behavior is exactly what the left always claims conservatives do. Chanting slogans like "from the river to the sea" is Anti-Semitic, wishing the destruction of the Jewish state. Singling out, persecuting, threatening and assaulting Jewish American students on campuses and in libraries is wrong. Although admittedly to a lesser degree, this behavior is as distasteful as what the KKK and Southern Democrats did to African Americans during the Jim Crow era.
-Let's delve further into some other contributing factors to the ever-increasing campus unrest...
***IDENTITY POLITICS, WOKENESS AND POLITICAL CORRECTNESS
1. These catch words have been used effectively by the liberal media and Democrats to pit Americans against each other. The social pressures on citizens who object to being told what to say or do is immense, to the point of being "fired" from their job as an example, for not addressing someone by the proper pronoun at work.
*This movement has become another method of controlling people who have a more conservative view of society. PC and Wokeness have been particularly effective in indoctrinating our youth and college students, who want to gain status, be different, and be part of something they think is cool.
***HOW HAS COLLEGE COURSE CURRICULA AND PROFESSORS DAMAGED OUR STUDENTS
-Where do these students get their talking points?
1. A significant number of college professors who have cultural Marxist and Socialist leanings, use their platforms as instructors to teach elements of these ideologies and indoctrinate impressionable students in their classes to hate American ideals.
2. Basically, these radical professors are injecting a cultlike doctrine to students in their lectures, rather than sticking to their subject matter.
***RESTRICTIVE CAMPUS LIFE SUPPORTED BY THE ADMINISTRATION
1. Conservative speech and speakers are restricted from lecturing at many schools. If allowed to speak, they are heckled, shouted down, and in some cases threatened with harm.
*This happened to Riley Gaines, the swimmer from Tennessee who opposes Transgender Men in woman's athletics. Protestors shut down her event at San Francisco University, roughing her up and locking her in a closet so she could not speak. No charges were filed by campus police against her attackers.
2. There is a double standard on the idea of freedom of speech at many Universities and Colleges.
*Using another example at what happened at UCLA, Pro Palestine encampments, rallies and protests were allowed, yet conservative students were prevented from having a Pro Israel event in support of what happened to the Jewish people.
3. Creating an insulated environment. College students seem to be coddled from reality. Schools have created these safe spaces as an example, a place where a category of people can feel confident, they will not be subjected to any emotional harm.
Final Note:
Even if you don't have someone that went or is going to college you should be concerned. You're paying for what is currently going on there. Your taxes are being used to help fund these campuses.
And for those who look forward to a tax refund come next April you might be owing the government if Biden gets reelected. HIs education debt forgiveness program for students will wind up coming out of your pocket! Do you really want to be supporting higher education with what's going on today? Hope you can afford it along with all those other inflationary prices on food, gas, rent, home and clothes caused by Biden's policies...
***Time to change our country back from the Democrats cultural idealism!
Thanks for reading this very long post. Hope you found this information thought provoking and enlightening, providing you a better explanation of what's going on...

It almost reminds me of some of the problems campuses had in the late 1960s when students were protesting just about anything they could. Of course a lot of those protests were about equality back then which to me was a legitimate concern but the 'establishment' wasn't ready to hear it.
I never had the money to go to college so now I'm wondering how tax dollars supports colleges cuz if tax dollars are being used to fund colleges why do college students have to pay those huge tuitions?

Let me address your question more specifically about supporting higher education. Some of "your tax dollars" are used by the government for FEDERAL STUDENT AID. The government uses a portion for this for "loans to help students cover the costs of EDUCATIONAL EXPENSES." Where does the Federal Government get the income to do this. From FEDERAL INCOME TAXES COLLECTED FROM US...
No one is supposed to get a free ride from these loans. Until Biden decided to use Executive Privilege to go around the Supreme Court's ruling by altering the forgiveness language on his order and ignoring their decision.
So, in effect, our taxes will be raised to cover the student expenses from those defaulted loans.
Hope that helps!

Yep, that splains it Lucy.
I am praying we'll never have to put up with another Biden in office not that I'd want Trump up there but really what bugs me is property owners here in TX pay taxes to support public schools and now this fool wants us to fund higher ed???? Damn, I never got to go to college cuz of the expense yet now tax dollars are used to fund kids that generally speaking go to college to avoid having to work ...... just plain corks my pistol.

Free education is never really free @josie_ it fall to taxpayers to fund those schools and as far as I'm concerned higher education should be the responsibility of the person wanting it or their parents if they want to fund it but not to people like me who never could afford college.

Some would like to compare today's college unrest with the early 60's and 70's protest movements. But the anti-Vietnam war, civil rights, women's liberation movement were driven by issues affecting the US and Americans who felt alienated by the gov't and it's policies. The counter culture of the 60's dealt with specific issues.
Today's woke culture is nothing more than an exaggerated version of political correctness often provoked by influencers in social media. This is were protesting students get their news and do not bother to research and dig deeper into the history of the Israel-Palestine conflict.

Very true! The draft required U.S. citizens to be directly involved and fight in the Vietnam War conflict. Much different than what these students are protesting about with the Israel-Hamas war.
Your comment about political correctness and woke ideology is perfectly stated in my view.
Thanks so much for reading and responding to my post!
