The nutmeg tree is loaded and we get lots of them on the ground and that is how they are collected
The only disadvantage is that they always yield in the monsoon and that is a problem having to dry them. We keep them on the gas range for a few days and then store them in the fridge until they could be put out in the sun.
Both the mace and the nuts sell well. We have a regular who buys them from us.

@allknowing oh wow well I know mace is sold as a seasoning but had no idea mace and nutmeg come from the same plant so neat!

The plus point is I can sell them. Not everything that grows in our garden has a demand.

@allknowing That is certainly a bonus being able to sell the fruit/nuts/whatever.

For our own consumption we hardly need two or three

@allknowing I think I do not need more than 3 or 4 per year, but tortellini without nutmeg is not the same taste!

That's a very nice way of earning some extra bucks. They look attractive before they dry up.

It's quite a problem getting them ready as they normally yield during the monsoon season

@allknowing That's the problem as it would be difficult to dry to them but if dried would fetch a good sum as nutmeg is pretty costly in the market.
