Learned Something New

Yesterday while I was in Walgreens I noticed that some things said approved OTC and SFA..some just said approved for SFA and ssome just said approved OTC. I stopped an employee and asked them about the new signage. He told me they were constantly changing what is approved, then told me if I downloaded the United HealthCare App, that I could scan anything in his store or any store and see if it is approved for OTC. So today, I went to the UHC website that I haven't been to in a year, and found out all kinds of stuff I did not know. LOL Downloaded the app, and scanned a box of sweetner and it told me it was eligible for OTC...so it DOES work. BUT..I also found out that I may be able to go to a Chiropractor on my insurance! Definitely looking into that...might help with finding out if my Vertigo is associated with my spine. Worth a try, not to mention a good massage would be awesome! LOL Will be checking out my scanner today! Almost makes me excited to go shopping! LOL

They keep changing the app. I had it, and it WAS working for me, and now I cant, for the life of me, log in. Even AFTer changing the password. But, I can still use my OTC card.... so... not complaining. Found out I can link it to my walmart account and use it to pay for groceries. So we have a love-hate relationship.

I had a problem signing in..didn't know that you have to sign in until I got to the store. I made a mistake with my password, but eventually figured it out. LOL I saw where you can use it to order groceries at Walmart..that is different.

@Ghostlady Yeah. I've been doing that for a few months now. With the cost of transportation, I only drag George out to go to places that we need to go to in-person.

You should use your card...what you do not use goes back to the Insurance Company and they get ENOUGH money as it is.

It's quite likely a chiropractor could help with your vertigo. It would be awesome if it did.

Cool that you can scan products for OTC eligibility. I hope the Chiropractor can give you some feedback on the relationship of spinal problems to vertigo. Maybe show him what I sent you. Have a good day.

What does it mean if something is eligable (however it is spelled) for OTC?

The OTC card is given to people through insurance plans. The card is used for Healthy Food, Over The Counter products such as bandaids, cold meds, vitamins etc. OR you can pay utility bills with it. Each Insurance company uses it differently..some companies the amount can be carried over to the next month..mine is not that way. I receive $220 a month and must use it before the 1st of the next month. Not all groceries accept the cards, and some accept one but not the other. My friend has a different company and she only gets $500 a year. My insurance company doesn't do business in her town in KY. It truly is a MESS..a good mess...but a mess.
