Today was our gardening weekend. Our tomatoes which we planted before we got married are starting to flower and we had to change their support sticks as they have grown taller. We will be expecting harvest soon I hope. We are also trying to plant strawberries from my workmate. They are a little wilted at the moment but we hope it will perk up soon. And we have also some new brandy wine tomatoes from my lovely patient. I do love gardening it is very destressing.

@flapiz, I have a few plants on my patio, and do not know what they are. A friend picked them out for me. I just give them water.

@Chellezhere Ahahaha I have a few plants indoors which I do not know the names of too. I am passionate about nature and plants. They are quite therapeutic and uplifting to the mood.

You have a pretty garden. I did the same yesterday, I replaced the support sticks and tied the tomato plants, as we expected strong wind. I have seen small green tomatoes on the plants. The strawberries are showing some flowers.

I do worry about the intense winds. Do you know how long it takes for flowers to turn to fruit?

@LadyDuck So at least another month of waiting patiently. I am excited to see fruit. Is there a way to hasten it?

@flapiz - The number of days depends on the type of tomatoes you have and the growing conditions. It takes about 25-30 days after the flower first opens for a cherry tomato or small tomato to ripen and about 45 for a large tomato.

Those tomatoes look to be doing well. I hope you get a lot of fruit from them. Strawberries would be good too.

I am really excited for fruiting but I was told it may take a month still. I guess I just have to be patient.

Glad to see your Tomatoes growing big ! Gardening indeed is a great way to relax and de-stress. And having a lawn is better than just having plants in the balcony of a high rise. They face more challenges, besides the issue with the quality of water here.

@flapiz It has higher salt content and not suitable for each plant so it does affect the growth of most plants.

@flapiz It is not because of the Sea Water but due to the presence of certain elements in the Ground Water naturally. Industrial pollution is partly to be blamed.

What's wrong with the quality of water there and how do they harm the plants?

Oh I wish I could plant some root crops but I do not have much space for it. I have planted carrots and potatoes once while I was in Guernsey. It is nice to be sustainable.

I don't plant anything. My dad planted onions, tomatoes, and other vegetables. I didn't know that gardening is destressing.

Well gardening is kinda like grounding. It removes inflammation and excess electrical charges from the body and put it back to the ground. It is very good for stress management and also it is fulfilling to harvest.
