Fred Schleter who is a Source Resource Officer (SRO) at South Gibson School was off the clock on Saturday when he was involved in a training session outside of Michigan City Kentucky when he saw an auto accident on the side of the road.
Officer Schleter was the first responder to attend the auto accident victims after he called for help when he used tools from his patrol car to cut the seat belts from the injured passengers and driver of the automobile accident.
Officer Schleter then used his first aid training t stabilize the passengers until the auto accident victims were taken by helicopter to a local hospital where they are being treated for their injuries.
The conditions of the auto accident victims is not known. According to Dan Lienemann who is the Chief SRO, he is proud of the actions taken by his officer to take care of the injured passengers and driver in the auto accident which may have saved their lives.
