He Said It Sucked

If you've been around entertainment circles for long enough, of course you know who Kevin Bacon is. He's been an actor for more than forty years and is quite a famous, and a very recognizable guy.
Being that he's been a celebrity most of his life, he thought it would be fun to be a regular guy for a day. So, he hired a makeup artist to make a prosthetic for him to disguise himself and went out to a local mall.
No one knew who he was.
He said the experience was much less than he thought it would be, and remarked that he much prefers being a celebrity.
"I mean," he said, "I actually had to stand in line to get a cup of f---ing coffee." I am sure he was being rather tongue in cheek. That's Kevin Bacon's style, if you didn't know that already.
Most people who have met him in person have said he's just like us, but just happens to be famous.
As for fame, I have always thought fame would be tough. When I am out and about I just want to get done what I want to get done. I couldn't imagine being stopped every five seconds by adoring fans.
Like his "day of normal," I might want to try a day as a celebrity. I imagine it would suck, even if I got a faster coffee.

Not a fan of Kevin Bacon but of course, have seen him in some movies and shows, I once wanted to join the acting world and even went to the Academy of Dramatic Arts in NYC. Now I am glad I did not become a celebrity that is a way of giving up a great part of your private life,

@LindaOHio I went for two years then got drummed out unfortunately, It takes four years to get the degree. However, I don't think I would have made it as an actress, I am much too private, an introvert, and with my anxiety well you know how it is,

You went to the ADA? I wanted to go so bad; but my parents made me go to business school.

@RasmaSandra That's a shame but that must have been exciting!

I'm generally a reserved person, but sometimes I love the spotlight. Like when I'm singing. Or wearing a new outfit, lol. But celebrity life wouldn't be for what I'd want.

I saw the story about him saying how much it sucked, and I thought it was really weird because he has always appeared to be a down-to-earth guy. But then I understood he was being rather tongue in cheek. I thought it was pretty funny.

I read about this. I'd like to try fame for a while, especially with Bacon's paycheck. Have a good weekend.

@porwest I would enjoy the acting as I was pretty good at it. My mother sent me to business school though so I could be a secretary. Fortunately I worked my way up to management and owning my own business...and got another two years of college under my belt.

@LindaOHio I have always thought it would have been fun to be an actor. Of course I'd enjoy the money too even if the fame would not be as exciting. But it goes with that territory of course.

The worst thing about all of this is it makes “Six Degrees of Kevin Bacon” even easier because “Oh, I met him when he was disguised one day.”

I like Kevin Bacon. But I wouldn't want to be a celebrity.

Better to remain anonymous, the fame can poison your life.
