July 4, Independence Day

We did not go looking for fireworks on the fourth. We had just finished a long drive. Checked into a motel in Wisconsin.
Bob's cousin, whom we were planning to see, came down with covid. He thought it was just a cold, but he was staying home that night. His daughter had him get a test kit. He is 82 and had not had it so far. He told us of two fantastic displays, but really, that is not Bob's and my thing anymore. We used to go regularly. We needed to rest that night.
I turned on an old movie, about George Cohan. Yankee Doodle Dandy. Loved the patriotic scenes and the choreography.
We still have quite a few fireworks going off here right now. Bruno says "Weow". He is just waiting for me to head to bed. There are a lot of fireworks going off tonight, as I guess it was raining last night when they were supposed to be enjoying them.
I bet I can sleep through it, though.

I think it is just like the flu, and is here to stay.

@GardenGerty I think you're right but some of the long-term effects are worrying.

It seems that covid has become part of our lives. But we are learning to handle it. My daughters have had it mildly several times because they go places more than I do. I got it only once, last year, from my 100 year old aunt who had gotten it from her maid. She is old enough to tell me she had it in the middle of the lunch she had invited me to, and after she had kissed me hello.
But I try to keep away from it, in spite of the vaccines.

I do not needlessly expose myself. I have had it once in spite of the vaccines. My doctor says I should get another booster this fall.

@GardenGerty I have had 5 vaccines. I don´t know when I need another one. My last one was for Christmas. Older people need more vaccines than the rest. I only have had it once but my youngest daughter has had it several times in a mild way in spite of the vaccines. She has to go to work and her 2 children go to school and to the university.

I expect I'll hear them for the next few days. Although I'm glad you rested and did alright.

I do not mind if they are not too close.

I do not have a lot of trouble sleeping, just wake up too early too often.

We even had a lot of fireworks again Saturday night. They all must have bought quite a few! Have a good day.

Bad economy so we celebrate by burning money, I guess.
