Went Shopping Today at Wal Mart and St. John's

I have an itch on my back and arms, that never goes away. Then I realized, I'm allergic to all synthetic material, with nylon or silk added in. Manmade material makes my skin itch. So, I drove to WalMart and purchase three inexpensive T shirts, 100% cotton. They were $3.98 a piece. When I got home, I immediately changed my shirt and put one of the new ones on. Presto! My back stopped itching, one minute later:) So, I cleaned out my closet and drawers. Every material that makes me itch, I put those shirts in a bag and donated them to St. John's Second Hand Store. Also, I went inside St John's and purchased four long sleeved shirts(for fall) made out of 100% cotton material. They were all marked 1/2 off, which I was happy about! The lady who checked me out was Joyce L., a woman I've known for over 35 years. She's very sweet and asked me how everything is going for Jay and me. It was so good to see her! I'm having a lovely day:) Photo: Borrowed from Pixabay

My daughter has a similar "itch" - I didn't even think about the fabric type! What a relief to discover these health solutions that help us. The trip to St. John's was a win-win-win .

@kobesbuddy Thrift stores make me feel rich. Be sure to use laundry soap that does not make you itch as well.

They have nice clothes at St. John's. The 3 shirts I bought were $1.50 apiece and one was $2.50! I was very pleased with those prices.

@snowy22315 At times, bacteria keeps a rash spreading.

I'm so glad you found out what you needed. Don't forget to wash everything before you wear it to help wash out any chemicals.

All the fabrics have flame retardant. It's to keep the wrinkles out.

I will only wear natural fibers. I bought a bunch of tee shirts from Wal Mart just after my house burned down, and I'm still using them. My bra is stretchy and is cotton and when I work on bears I manage to get acrylic, mohair, and real fur fibers in my bra. Long ago I learned that a wonderful anti itch powder is wonderful for controlling the itch. It is medicated but when you itch you really don't mind the smell. I buy the powder at Wal Mart and usually buy two of the large bottles so I don't suddenly run out. I am about to start working on the "upcycled" furs again and I am going to itch worse than a dog in a flea forest! (When I "upcycle" the real furs, I glue a lining to the leather backing of the fur so that I don't have to worry about any tearing.) Just to clarify things, when I refer to "Upcycling" fur, I buy furs that are in coats, jackets, stoles etcera that were in estates and take out the lining and open the fur up, lay it flat and line it with a cotton fabric. Then I cut the bear pattern on the fur, cut it out, and go on from there. A portion of the sales goes to help the various animal rescue organizations. I don't use any "NEW fur for the bears. Anyway the anti itch powder I use is (If I remember right) Doctor Scholl's medicated anti-itching powder. It is totally a God send!!!
