I am not your most active person. I tend to nap a lot at times especially when I am depressed. My daughter has also taken on this habit. She is on a hefty drug that does make her lethargic. Come to find out that napping has many health benefits. Go figure. It seems that napping actually helps in sleep schedules in this hectic and busy world. As an adult napping can have several health benefits among them are helping with cognitive function, boosting our moods, and preventing weight gain. A neurochemical, serotonin(the feel-good hormone)is released during a nap and lets the body reset. So that feelings of frustration, irritability, and negativity that can build up during the day can be totally bypassed. This can lower rates of depression and anxiety.

I´m glad to know that. I never took naps until I was in chemo. From then on, I´m a nap lover. I thought that I´d stop taking naps after the chemo was over but it did not happen that way. Now I even take naps in the house of my friends if they invite me for lunch.

Napping is indeed a hidden gem for boosting well-being. It's reassuring to learn about its positive impacts on mood and cognitive function. Taking those moments to recharge can really help navigate through tough times.

@annierose .......I remember years ago when I worked at the telephone company there was a small room with a bed for people to nap in if they wished. That is the only place I have ever worked that had that.

@celticeagle Absolutely, it's great to have the option to take a quick nap when needed. It can make a big difference in how we feel and function throughout the day.

So long as you don't let yourself go to long. A short nap is good, too long of one will disrupt your sleep routines.

@celticeagle Fourty-five minutes to an hour is considered a "power nap." Some people do go longer.

I wonder if your husband might be more depressed if he didn't nap.

@celticeagle - My husband was less depressed when we went out for a walk and he did not nap.
Now it is too hot to go out for a walk after lunch.

I used to take naps in the mornings. Yes, I think it is good for you to take naps. Especially for your eyes.

I did not know that taking a nap restores energy in the body.

You have to be rather calm to be able to sleep at all.
