Officials with the Colorado Parks and Wildlife are searching for a rodent who is from Argentina who is here illegally who was seen in the Lakewood Bear Creek Lake Park as of Monday.
Park rangers and eyewitnesses have seen the Patagonian mara who can grow as tall as 2 1/2 feet tall.
The origins of the Patagonian mara being loose in the Lakewood area are not known. According to Emily Insalasco who is the senior director of animal care of the Denver Zoo believes that the animal escaped from his or her owner or abandoned by its owner.
Hopefully the animal will found safe and sound by the authorities since it is against the law in Colorado.
It is the first time I have ever heard of a Patagonia mara in my lifetime.
