What a beautiful day! You bet I’m going to take advantage of this after lunch! But first, a baked potato (with turkey instead of chicken today) and another Texan for your dining and dancing pleasure. Sorry, Linda, it’s more country. Tanya Tucker I find it puzzling that this legend was only inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame last year. It’s not like Glen Campbell was still around, voting against her. (I will leave it to you to look up the tabloid relationship they had if you’re not familiar with it.) She began with a big bang, in 1972 with the song “Delta Dawn.” By the time she graduated high school she had enough gold records to line the stage she walked across. Of course, when you’re that successful that young, your life becomes an episode of VH-1’s Behind the Music (have a hit, get successful, start drinking or taking drugs, either die or go to rehab). She was an alcoholic by the time she was 18. Eventually Tucker’s family persuaded her to check into the Betty Ford Clinic for help. My brother said she’s not nice to her fans, but she’s on this list based on her music. Tanya Tucker Born Tanya Denise Tucker October 10, 1958, Seminole (age 65) HALL OF FAME: Country Music Probably my favorite song of hers, “San Antonio Stroll” (again, Linda? NO!!!!!!!!!):

She hasn't had a hit since what?? 1976 or something. I can not think of anything she did past about that time.

In the Whitburn I count 29 top ten singles after 1976, including four #1 songs. My latest Whitburn only goes to 2008.

I'll bask in the memories of Sly and Seals & Crofts. Have a great weekend.

Four more rockers to come, two of whom you’ll most likely love…one maybe and one I don’t know.

It’s amazing that she’s been around most of my life, and she’s only two years older!

She did. Amazing voice for a 13-year-old, too!

Yes, Crystal Gayle was born in Indiana despite her sister Loretta Lynn being born in Kentucky. Tanya also has a singing sister, LaCosta.

I remember the name well but don't know too many of her songs.

I think her name has endured longer than many of her songs (except for maybe “Delta Dawn,” and you can thank Helen Reddy’s cover for making that so popular).
