Well again I have to correct my buddy @porwest and others here who have blocked me. I don't get paid over the summer for nothing. It is just money that is withheld during the 10 months of school and then they put it into my checking account 4 times during the summer. I actually get almost $600 more per summer deposit than I get during the school year. I get more in the summer hanging in the pool than I do going to work each day. That has always cracked me up. I can't wait to see what my checks this upcoming year will be. I've cracked into a new level. Someone said that I might have hit the threshold for what they take out for medical. I guess we shall see.

I wouldn't want your responsibility! Teaching children in the times we are living in. You can't discipline a child, yet if they misbehave it's because the teacher isn't keeping the student under control! Foolishness:(

It is an odd time to be a teacher.

@TheHorse And if the child is misbehaving, the parents blame the teacher!

The amount of money you are paid for a job that requires 10 months of work is DEFINITELY FULLY paid. Period. End of story.

I was paid for 10 months of work. Today's deposit was just some of that income that I already earned. I don't know why you are so salty about what I earn or am paid. You don't live in NJ. You aren't a property owner or taxpayer here. You aren't "my boss" as you like to think. What do you care? I don't begrudge you what you used to earn.

@porwest Wrong. I am contracted for 10 months of work. It isn't an ANNUAL thing. The contract runs from September 1 to June 30. Teachers can do everything in the world but doesn't mean students or their parents care, that the student is tracked at a proper level, etc. No Child Left Behind demonstrated that many years ago. I do my job. I get good observations and evaluations. If a bunch of my students fail it certainly wasn't for my lack of trying, lack of parent communication, etc. You know the saying about leading a horse to water. . .

@NJChicaa Because you don't understand how money and salaries work. Salaries are for ANNUAL pay, regardless of how it is paid out and REGARDLESS of the terms. As for not paying taxes for your school, you are wrong about that. Every single public school in the country receives FEDERAL FUNDING on top of local taxes collected to run them. The taxpayers ARE your boss, period. I do not begrudge what you earn. I begrudge that teachers are paid what they are paid with no results or accountability necessary and schools can have stagnant results and still beg for more money. Teachers have LONG held themselves in much higher regard than they are actually worth. I am not saying they aren't important or don't do an important job. I am simply saying it's not rocket science OR brain surgery. Teachers aren't much different than meteorologists. You can get it right 50% of the time and still get paid. Not a bad gig.

I understand the concept of stretching the pay for 10 months (or 9) over 12 months. Tomorrow is my payday.

Dang! You school teachers are spoiled! I hope you take some of the $200,000 you make per year and invest it. Why would Porwest block you?

@NJChicaa Who would block teachers? It's one of the most noble professions out there! But I am prejudiced.

no @Porwest didn't block me. He likes arguing with me too much. Others here who bash teachers have blocked me.

That would be nice. A few more pennies each paycheck would be nice. And, paying the same for Medicle. Sounds like a dream.

@NJChicaa I meant next year. How you were talking about how you might've hit a cap on what they take for medicle.

It’s not extra money. It’s just money withheld. That they give back
