I drove by a grass fire today.

I went to Berkeley for lunch with a friend today.
In my way home I took Highway 4, the same highway I take to play music with friends in Antioch.
But this is further West, on a much prettier and less-populated stretch.
As I was approaching Martinez, I saw firetrucks on the far shoulder. And then I saw the flames.
They were leaping maybe 10 feet into the air, but it looked like the fire hadn't spread to more than maybe 1000 square feet.
I'll have to check the news to see if they reported on it.
Is it dry where you live?
Photo is of a fire on Mt. Diablo several years ago, taken from the South. I did not take it.

We've had more rain than usual so far here. Almost like a normal summer.

It hasn't rained since beginning of may. This place a tinderbox. I am glad someone paying attention. Little grass fires can burn Cali down.

@TheHorse Good, we went to minor league baseball game tonight. Sky looked funny like fires were close, but no smell. I guess that is good. It just looked off like there is some serious smoke somewhere. It looked like early 90's before they passed the clean air laws. I have not looked probably will not unless I hear something.
Wild fires just a way of life here now, sad to say.

Not too dry, some drought problems out the the West though. We should have hurricane remants passing through in a few days which will up our water total. We need it.

It had been until a couple of hours ago. We have a break in the weather but we're dealing with a tropical system here.

Grassfires are still illegal here. You can't even possess it, let alone set it on fire.

@TheHorse Who needs grass when you can go to a bar and get into a fight with a drunk redneck?
-------------That is a popular hobby around here.

Before they made it a law not to burn old grass from past seasons many bumbling Latvians burnt their old grass and often burnt down their own houses or endangered neighbors. Right now Hurricane Debby has left us soggy and wet,
