A helicopter from the United States Coast Guard (USCG) answered ab emergency call from a captain of a fishing boat off of the coast of Long Beach Washington on Sunday August 4.
A 17 year old teenager suffered a medical emergency 60 miles west of Long Beach Washington aboard the fishing vessel when the captain contacted the USCG via VHR radio.
The USCG sent an aircrew from Astoria Oregon with a nurse Life Flight Network to the area where the fishing boat was located to hoist the teenager as well as a family member to a hospital in Portland Oregon to be evaluated.
According to officials with the USCG, the condition of the patient is not known or what was the cause of his medical problem.
It is good to know that the USCG are doing their best to rescue persons who are in need of their services.

I am in agreement with you that kids should be with their parents or guardians on boats.

It's rather unusual for someone that young to suffer such a happenstance, and he can thank the work of the USCG in taking him to the hospital.

That is true that the teenager suffered a medical condition aboard a sailboat that needed to be taken to a hospital via USCG helicopter.
