Nature's map of Australia

One of the exhibits at the Narrogin tourist centre was this large wooden mass which is a good likeness of the shape of Australia. A local man who does a lot of woodwork found it while out searching for timber and was struck by its likeness to Australia. It’s nice that they’ve tacked Tasmania on at the bottom of the piece. Poor old Tasmania sometimes gets left off maps much to their disgust just as Western Australia sometimes gets ignored by the Eastern States.

It's not a bad likeness for a lump of wood.

There was some representation somewhere during the Games and NZ was left off apparently. I don't remember the details now.

When you get close to it, it doesn't look carved at all.

That is awesome looking, He sure got lucky to find it. Perhaps it was once carved by Aborigines,

The aborigines wouldn't have known what Australia looked like. They'd have only known their small piece of it.

It's amazing how people find objects such as this that look like familiar places and things. The likeness to Australia is wonderful.

Like in reality, Tasmania seems to have fallen off the mainland. Nice woodwork by our creator, the ultimate craftsman!
