The trip is winding down. I’m going to Lincoln’s Tomb before I head for home. It’s been so enjoyable driving at a slower pace along Route 66, I’ll tell you that! When I get out on the interstate I’ll be rocking again, which means I’ll need some music. Here’s the next song celebrating rock and roll in the title.
#6: Venus and Mars/Rock Show - Wings
“You score an ounce, olé.” And Paul only got arrested ONCE for marijuana possession????
Here’s Paul and Wings celebrating going to concerts, tossing in a reference to Jimmy Page and Professor Longhair (“they’ve got Longhair at Madison Square”) for good measure.
Oooh-ee!
Venus and Mars/Rock Show
Written by Paul and Linda McCartney
Recorded by Wings
From Venus and Mars, 1975
That decimal meter doesn’t seem to be reading low:

I used to live on Route 66 in Ohio..Spencerville, OH. Did not like the Beatles until the later years. SGt. Peppers was the first album I ever bought of the Beatles. I was a Rolling Stone fan. I remember in the 3rd grade 4 guys from my class pretended to be the Beatles. Brought their guitars and drums and set them up, but they only pretended to play as they played a record of Love Love Me Do, and I Want To Hold Your Hand. LOL 2 of the guys were blonde. LOL One of the 4 actually went on to play in a band.

That’s up around Lima, isn’t it? Did you ever sing “get your kicks on state route 66” while driving on it?
I wasn’t much of a Beatles or Stones fan as a child, because I was listening to Jim Reeves and Buck Owens.
(That should explain what’s wrong with me.

@FourWalls Y No never sang that one. LOL I mostly Walked down it. LOL It is around 12-15 miles from Lima. Went to Business College in Lima. I liked Jim Reeves, and enjoyed HeeHaw, but was never a fan of Buck Owens. My cousin played Saxaphone with Porter Wagner on his show. He sang and played Won't You Come Home Bill Baily..dressed like a woman..Will never forget that. He could play the sax, but singing wasn't his thing...at ALL! LOL

I think it was released as the follow-up single to “Listen to What the Man Said.”
September will start 100 days of my 100 favorite charted songs lists, country and “hot 100” (can’t call it all “rock” because there’s a Perry Como song on there).
