Howdy from my favorite booth at Chuy’s! Yes, I’m home after a wonderful drive along Route 66 in Illinois from Joliet to Springfield. More to tell you about, but there’s music, too! Here’s another obvious selection on the list of songs paying tribute to rock and roll in their title. Gee, who didn’t see this one coming…. #5: Long Live Rock - The Who Yes, I am very predictable. I definitely won’t forget The Who on this list! I love songs where Pete and Roger sang co-lead, and this is one of them. “Baba O’Riley” is another one (Pete sings the “don’t cry, don’t raise your eyes”) line). Pete opens the singing here, then Roger takes over. I love bands with more than one lead singer. And I love The Who. Long live rock! Long Live Rock Written by Pete Townshend From Odds & Sods, 1974 Also from The Kids Are Alright, 1979 We tried but you were yawning:

Long live Roger and Pete. Keith and The Ox left us way too soon.

Yes, and sometimes when you read about Keith you find yourself wondering how he made it to 32.

That was the first band my brother saw in concert. He loved it. I never did and wish I had. Glad you got some kicks on route 66

I got kicked on route 24, wrong highway. Never saw The Who, either.

One of their “FM classic” songs, not a big hit though.
