Howdy! With just two songs left in this month’s salute to rock and roll, I guess you might wonder what’s coming up next month. Oh, y’all are in trouble: one hundred days of my favorite “hot 100” and country songs. I’ll explain later. But it’s time to rock and roll. Turn it up. #2: Cleveland Rocks - Ian Hunter In the 70s it was known as “the mistake by the lake,” but Ian Hunter saw it differently. That’s probably because he lives in England and doesn’t have to deal with the Browns. It’s as much an “official” theme song for Cleveland as a song can be. They play it at the sporting events. A cover by The Presidents of the United States was the theme song to The Drew Carey Show. And it’s probably the reason the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame is in Cleveland instead of Memphis. (In actuality, that’s more of an homage to Alan Freed [heard at the beginning of Hunter’s song] and his pioneering rock and roll radio show.) Crank it up and sing along!
