So, The forestry department sent out a notification that they are collecting acorns, and various other dropped items like black walnuts, and so forth. They said if we collect them they will plant them. However, the acorns here are a big part of the diet for deer and squirrels. I wouldn't want to take their food source away. Well, if it is a banner year, maybe I could spare a few for the DOF. I will keep an eye on them.

@LadyDuck There aren't any walnut trees nearbt, but there is a Civil War battlefield park about 30 minutes from here that has tons. You aren*t supposed to take anything from though.

@snowy22315 - I have noticed that all the hazelnuts have disappeared, but there is plenty of acorns. The next months the walnuts should be ready.

I know I don't have as many as some do. Maybe I don't have a sufficient amount for both.

I would like to help both if possible, but I might let people who have more to share to do it. We will see. I believe in working to thwart climate change. Most years we don't even have acorns and they manage to survive..but I don't have as many as some have.

Our Pomeranians used to eat the acorns. I hope they weren't toxic to them. Have a good week.

Yeah, you mentioned that before. Jax doesn't pay any attention to them.

They don't usually ask things like that, but I guess they thought they would take advantage. The last thing they asked was for us to point out big trees to them, as part of a big tree project.I mentioned where I used to live, there was likely a 400 year old oak there. However, they said really old trees don't have to have huge girth.

if that's the case I could have gave them ALL the acorns they wanted B-4
I cut down all my tress & now that I don't have them dropping on my roof
it feel so good not to be dodging acorns or tripping on them on my deck.
