Yesterday was sunny and mild, today it is cloudy, and mild

I spent most of the workday outside yesterday. The fifth grade went to an open air activity called Kansas Kids Can. C-care A-about N-Nature. It was hosted by the Great Plains Nature Center
My kiddo did not relate directly to the activities, but he enjoyed being outside, and listening to people and being greeted by his friends, etc. He was very tired and so was I.
I think I was in bed before 7:30 last night.
Our groups participated in finding the living things in the bottom of the ponds that will turn into other things, like dragonflies, or beetles. They skimmed up things and the host would tell them what they found. There were baby crayfish and snails and frogs as well.
They learned about the water cycle and how today's rain might have been the dinosaur's waste water, and how to plan cities to pollute less and use water more wisely.
They had the opportunity to fish with cane poles and they did a lot of catch and release. They built examples of habitat for local wild life, took a nature walk, explored a wildlife museum.
My kiddo and I and some others rode in an air conditioned van instead of a bus so we had it good.
Today is foggy, but I may get outside to work anyway, pretty soon.

Our fog turned to sun and the air was pretty mellow. I think Bob and I will do something fun after church tomorrow.

Fifth grade students get to do a lot of awesome things. Not all of them suited for my guy to go along, but this one was great.

Huh? Dinosaurs are peeing on us when it rains?
. That sounds like a really cool project.
It’s sunny and warm here.

Just a way of explaining that water has a continuous cycle.

What a wonderful experience for all of the students as well as the staff to enjoy an outdoor trip like this early in the school year. There will be plenty of cold and snowy days ahead of them during this school year to draw back on the memories made yesterday.

In January they do five trips to a program called "Star Base" where they learn lots of science stuff. It is not suitable for my kid, but this was a fun day all around. In late spring they will have another field trip, too.

It was and the people who led the different activities were well informed and good to work with kids.
