Rattlesnake enters a home in California.

A family who lives in Lake Elsinore California was trapped inside of their home on the second floor on Tuesday September 3 when the three foot rattlesnake managed to enter the home via an open door which allowed the snake to get inside. One of the family members managed to contact Ryan Jessup of Ryan's Rattlesnake Rescue who answered the call to use a grabber tool to remove the snake after the homeowners used an app to unlock the door and remove the snake from inside the house. The reason that the homeowners left the door open in their home was for their family dogs to come inside. The dogs for obvious reasons stayed away from the house when the three foot rattlesnake entered the home. Thank goodness no one was hurt. Link is upi.com/5921725469243 via @upi

I know if I was a rattlesnake and saw an open door, I would go inside a home as well.

I'm glad they were able to contact someone to remove it before anyone in the family or the dogs was bitten.

@Deepizzaguy We had rattlers around when I was a kid. They are scary. We had a snakebite kit which is just as scary as those snakes are.

@akalinus My late mom was once by a boa constrictor a long time ago when we lived in a town in the former Canal Zone in Panama. It was scary.

That would be very scary indeed. I'm glad none of the dogs tackled the snake.

A rattlesnake in a house would be enough to rattle the most strongest of minds, and it is good that it was extricated from the premises, and hopefully, the family will keep a better eye on things, while doors are left open in the future.

I hope that the family that encountered the snake learned their lesson of dealing with snakes from now on.

It is rare for a rattlesnake to enter into a home and hold a homeowner hostage for a while.

Good that the family home has a second floor where they could hide until rescue came.

That is the silver lining of the story that the homeowner had someplace to hide from the rattlesnake.
