Plastic Pollution Prevention

It has been an old issue that plastic pollution is a worldwide problem. In my city, they have implemented the use of eco-bags as replacements for doggy bags. In my view, it is not an effective one because these eco-bags can still be a contributory factor for land pollution. They tend to keep on using, buying, and throwing them.
What do you think is the best solution for this issue?

I use biodegradable bags but the plastics that come from the shops and plastic bottles have become a great problem in India too.

I guess like Judy send giving incentives for turning in plastic bottles would be the best.

I think it's best to use a canvas bag. We would sometimes bring reusable plastic containers for meats and other wet produce. I hardly ever throw away any of my eco bags. They're all sturdy and good enough to last me for some years. Sometimes I would hand down a few to family and friends.
As for plastic polution, I'm guilty on many counts but I try my best to lessen the damage. Lately I've reduced the amount of food I had to buy from carinderias or food hawkers because they always pack the food in plastic. And when I buy facial washes with micro beads, I make sure that the beads are made from natural ingredients and not from plastic. Simple steps for now.

We also do the same thing here. These plastic containers and the like should be recycled. The bottled gallons of water for our babies were reused by planting some plants in them. I am not sure how can this problem be resolved in a great level.

@Shavkat It takes a lot of political will. We should also continue to educate our people about sustainable living. Many LGUs exert effort in promoting awareness about the environment. It's just that some situations won't allow us to make drastic changes.

Plastic pollution is major issue around the world including in my country. The best solution is awareness from individual until every person in world to reuse and bring her/his own bag while shopping. It will make the using of plastic reduced. While we do recycled the plastic garbage into benefit things such as re-use plastic , pot , bricks, etc.

I use plastic bags that I get from the store for trash. But, any other other plastic products, go in the recycle bin. From there I have no control over what happens to it.

There simply must come a time when no more plastic bags are produced and no one can get them anywhere,

I wish they would just go back to paper bags. They dissolve better than plastic and probably better than those eco ones. We have so many fires in our country due to poor management of trees. If they cut down the number, it would not only cut down on fires but make it more convenient. I really find bringing my own bag or being charged for one unfair.

@dgobucks226 The best thing is to know how they can recycle them into products or something.

@Shavkat I agree with you. They sure look like they would take some time to be absorbed.
