We went to a concert some time back and won tickets to another concert which is being held tonight. We were going to go by train then walk a couple of blocks but Vince has quite a nasty cough which wouldn’t be appreciated in a concert hall so we’ve made the hard decision not to go. The program features a ballet accompanied by a symphony orchestra. The ballet tells the story of Lucette Aldous (1938-2021). Aldous was born in New Zealand but moved to Western Australia at the age of four months. She played with a number of overseas companies and won huge acclaim, performing often with Rudolf Nureyev. One of her achievements was to perform the role of Kitri in Nureyev’s 1973 film production of Don Quixote. 1n 1982, Aldous and her second husband took positions at the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA). Her daughter is performing the lead role in tonight’s performance. We’ve been able to give our tickets to the parents of a young dancer who will be performing in the foyer before the start of the main concert.
