I love a good revenge-murder plot. And this one sure has that. It came out when I was 13. I was excited to see it and remember singing the theme for months. I think my two cousins and I went to see it back when you went to the theater to see a movie. I think it has been nearly ten years since I've been to a theater. It's a psychological thriller about an aging, reclusive Southern belle who begins to go mad when money-grubbing relatives descend on her and she tries to cope with a family secret. It was originally going to star Joan Crawford and Bette Davis. The two of them had had a feud going on for several years. But it seems that Bette would sit next to the director and discuss what was wrong with each scene Joan did until Joan couldn't take it anymore and went to the hospital with supposed pneumonia. Poor thing. She never returned to the set and the director, Robert Aldrich, took Bette's advice and got Olivia De Havilland who did a wonderful job. The rest is history and a well-performed movie. Bruce Dern, Joseph Cotten, Cecil Kellaway and, Agness Moorehead -- all seasoned actors also joined Bette for a great movie. Have you seen it?

That was the era of those gorgeous mansions. That theme song still gets to me.
