Above is the first of my finished watercolour paintings. I'd already done most of it last week, but today I finished it.
I don't really think the sky is dark enough. The sky in my reference picture was darker than this.
This painting is supposed to be in the impressionistic style, and it's for the London Art Course again.
All I had to do today was paint in the main lamppost and a few other little lampposts, correct or eliminate a few more that were wrong compositionally, and paint over part of the large tree at the top on the right where a blob of it was pulled off.
So I painted in the main lamppost first. Then I dropped a blob of black on my pavement down on the bottom left! I had to wet it to get it off, so ofcause the paint underneath it came off aswell! So when I'd finished my lamppost I redid that area.
After I'd done that I painted in the lamppost on the far left and the lampposts on the right. There were some lampposts in the middle that were wrong compositionally, so I decided to eliminate them altogether. So I painted over them in a colour that I thought matched the rest of the background.
Then I called it finished and set it aside to dry, and went on to finish the second of my watercolour paintings.

This painting reminds me of the first Narnia book. I think there's a chapter there that talks about a lamp post.
I'm trying very hard to recall now..

Yes, it does look lighter than what it should be, but I love these colors nevertheless!
It's impressionistic, hold on, gotta watch from a distance.
Wow, that's lovely!

You agree it's impressionistic? I thought I might have put too much detail in. We'll see what my tutor says when I send it off!
I'm glad you like it anyway.

@sharonelton I hope the tutor likes it.
Yes, it looks impressionistic to me. The front lamp post might be sharp but it creates a nice contrast, it gives some depth to the painting.
