Here's one that truly boggles my mind.
I know that turtle soup is a thing. Because well apparently people enjoy eating turtles, but mock turtle soup!? Why do we need something that is trying to be turtle soup?
If you want to eat turtles, just eat turtles. Why do you need to make something that is supposed to be like turtle soup and isn't but kind of is.
I feel the same way about vegetarian food that is made to resemble meat food. Like I do not want chick pea chicken nuggets. Give me the darn chicken nuggets or get away from me.
I looked it up, to see what mock turtle soup actually is.
It was created in the mid eighteenth century to be eaten in place of green turtle soup. Instead of turtle meat is used/uses calf brains to simulate the texture of turtle meat. Why wouldn't they just all it calf brain soup.
Mock turtle soup became more popular than regular turtle soup and is still really popular in Cincinnatti. Of all places. So that's weird.
It looks a little off, but I would try it I guess. It can't be worse than anything else I've touched on in this series.
Would you taste it? Have you tasted it?

Nope definitely not my kind of soup, When my dad and his friend first got to the New World and settled in NYC they wanted to try everything. One Christmas they crunched on chocolate covered grasshoppers,

I haven´t eaten mock turtle soup and I´m not sure we have it here. But last week Dixie gave me a vegetable hamburger. She told me it was delicious so I did not have the heart to tell her that it was awful. I don´t even like very much bought hamburgers that have meat (and who knows what else?) but this had nothing to do with any kind of meat.

@thislittlepennyearns I am polite and ate it all. But will not eat it again. Once is enough.

I don't understand why vegetarians want their meals to look like/taste like/have the texture of real meat. Just eat the vegies if that's what you want.

If you want things to taste like meat, eat meat.

I have heard in the cartoons that starred The Teenage Mutant Turtles when their enemies would say "Turtle soup time." I would rather eat spinach that turtle soup.

I’d probably try it before real turtle soup. I’ll never forget a blazing ginger man from our church taking the huge turtle from the parking lot home so his Mexican wife could make her country’s famous turtle soup. I found that disturbing. That turtle was huge! And cute too.

I never heard of it until now. After what you said about it I would not even try it. I am a picky eater.
