This year is the 80th Anniversary of the Lichfield Society of Artists, and to celebrate they're putting on a mini exhibition at the Guildhall in Lichfield. It started on Friday. It opened at about midday I think. I'll edit that if it's different. But for the first few hours it was just for members of the Lichfield Society of Artists. Then at 3:00pm it was open to the general public, but I was home after shopping by then.
The exhibition was on Friday till Tuesday, so today is the last day. The opening times are/were 9:00am-5:00pm on Saturday - Monday and 9:00am-4:00pm today. We went yesterday and we set off around 2:00pm. We went in the car and parked in the car park and then walked the rest of the way.
Mum wanted to go to the bank first, but when we got there we found out it was closed on a Monday! So then when we were walking towards the Guildhall, we met Mum's friend Frances coming the other way, so we were chatting to her for a few minutes.
Eventually we got to the Guildhall and went in. The exhibition was on the ground floor. It's only a small exhibition. We were given a slip of paper when we went in to write the title of our favourite art work on and the name of the artist. So we went and looked at all the exhibits. There weren't just paintings but some sculptures aswell. The paintings were done in all sorts of mediums. There were plenty of oil paintings, some acrylics, some watercolour paintings and some were even crested with textile.
We had a good look round and me and my Mum chose our favourites. I picked an oil painting of a river with these great reflections and shadows over the river too from a hedge on the other side. It was by a guy caller Guy Williams. Mum chose a portrait of a little girl. Syd didn't bother choosing one. He didn't really seem very interested! When we'd written our favourites on our slips of paper we put them through a slit in a plastic box with all the others. Then we signed the visitors book and said what we thought of the exhibition.
Then we went home. It was about 4:00pm when we got back, and I made myself a late dinner. (It was about 5:30pm when it was done, there was a lot of stirring involved!)
Did you do anything exciting yesterday?
I hope you are well.
Have a nice day.

It was, it was really nice. I'd like to be able to do things like this more often - but maybe without my Mum and Syd tagging along!
What do you do all day, and why is it so boring?
I like weekends too.

Pff, oils. I'm team #acrylics.
I know you are too. Well, you also experimented with watercolors so I'm not too sure now.
It seems you had a good time, it's nice to experience something different once in a while.
I wonder who won the exhibition.

I'm not keen on oils. I don't like all the solvents you have to use.
I tend to paint in acrylics and watercolours.
Yes, we did have a good time. Yes, it is. It was a change from the norm.
I don't know who won the exhibition.

@somewitch Exactly! And you can do much of the oil techniques with acrylics, plus it doesn't take so long to dry!

@sharonelton Exactly, why bother with oils and their solvents when all you need is the good old water when using acrylics or watercolors.

It sounds like fun. There is an immersive Van Gogh exhibit in the city I have been wanting to attend. I am thinking of going on Saturday.

Thank you very much. Yes, it was.
Better than sitting on my backside at home!
That sounds great.
I hope you can get to go. I'd like to go to something like that.

@sharonelton I do like local art exhibitions - so much more rewarding than fancy galleries. You didn’t mention if there was a loo. I presume that there was. Today I’ve been slowly tidying up the back garden.

Yes, and not so many people around aswell. I really enjoyed it. There were some really nice paintings. I presume there was a loo, but I didn't need it so I didn't ask!
I hope you succeeded in tidying up the garden.
I hope you are well.

I don't know. It will probably be on Facebook so I'll keep checking.
Oh, yes, it was a lot of stirring. You have to stir it every 10 minutes until all the liquid has reduced down. Fortunately I can sit down and do some reading inbetween stirs!
