Will He Ever Get His Money?

A few days ago I read about a guy named Jerry who won the lottery back in August and is still waiting for his money. On August 19, 2024, Jerry who lives in Orange County California won $44 million in the Power Ball Lottery. Lottery officials will not comment on this particular case but did say that its common for payments to take 6-8 weeks. Winners have to go through an extensive 'vetting' process. They look deep into their financial background to see if they owe any back taxes or child support. A spokesman for the California State Lottery said the fastest a winner might get their winnings is four weeks. They also said that the California letter processed over 10,000 claims a month. I think patience is the bottom line. Have you had a big winning? Did take a long time. When the lottery first started here in Idaho and not so many were playing I used win quite a bit but never millions. The picture is from Poker News.

For them it would be easy to check me out, I usually have a balance of less than $100 at the end of each month,

Me too. Lucky if I have $50 or so in mine.

If you won a big sum, it would be hard to be patient.

Oh, I so agree. I would be making plans for it right away.

We have a lottery here but it does not take that long. I´m sure that there are rules about the time to give the money. And maybe rules too about what to substract if there are taxes or child support due.

We do too. There are probably many things that go into it. Like how he wants the money. Monthly or one big payment.

The largest prize I ever won in the lottery was a small amount of money that was cashed quickly at the local grocery store. No wonder the internet media call California The Peoples Republic.

It is tough to go through the waiting period. I have won a couple of hundred dollars and payment was immediate.

I used to use those amounts and got them right then. I was playing at the Fair and this was back when not so many tried it.

I have played the same numbers since 1989 in the Classic Ohio Lottery. The most I've won is $70. Have a good weekend.

Do think it is a good plan to play the same numbers each time? I wondered about that.
