Another one of those great “what the heck” double features. Along with that astonishingly COUNTRY country song, we get this! And, as I frequently like to do for any newbies, I am not three people, just one. And yes, I really like both songs…a lot! Obviously, since they’re both on their respective 100 favorite charted songs lists. Here’s today’s Hot 100 song.
The Rubberband Man - Spinners
I used this last year in the movies countdown. This was in Stripes, when the platoon went to the strip club and Ox (John Candy) mud wrestled five women. It took a LONG time to get that visual out of my mind when hearing this song.
Fun fact: the “do-do-do, do-do-do-do-do” part in the background is a nod to Stephen Stills’ song “Love the One You’re With.”
One of the great songs of the 70s.
The Rubberband Man
Written by Thom Bell and Linda Creed
Recorded by the Spinners
From Happiness is Being With the Spinners, 1976
Peak chart position: #2
Today’s country song: “Set ‘Em Up Joe”

You’ll know today’s singer but the song will confuse and probably disappoint you. So please enjoy this one.

Funny how top 5 songs just disappear after a couple of years.

Have you heard any music from the 70s?
(I know, “Yeah, ‘Margaritaville.’”
