This was years and years ago. I was staying with my brother in the city. He did not have an oven in his house. But my brother liked to experiement with cooking
It was during Christmas time he tried making a cake. He always over did - too many dry fruits and such,
We had a neighbour who had an oven in her house She was the only one with the oven and there were other neighbours too who wanted to use that oven.
We had to literally stand in queue
My thoughts go there each time I bake my favourite date and walnut cake in my own oven. I have a gas cooking range with 4 burners, a grill and an oven all in one No one queues up as every one around must be owning one too

The lifestyle in India specially when it comes to one's kitchen is not the same as that one sees in other countries.

@allknowing - I am sure it is very different. I loved so much the old stove that my grandmother had. She had to burn wood and the stove also heated the room.

It's great to hear you have your own oven. :) We bought our oven many years ago.

Not a big thing owning an oven. I just wanted to say what it was years and years ago.
