So reliant on the internet!

This week I am away in Wales, and overnight we got 5 inches of snow so given that I am at the end of a narrow stony track you can imagine I’m not going anywhere.
I have some jobs to do, but many of them are outdoor jobs which are difficult to get to when everything is covered in so much snow. So it would be the ideal time to catch up with all the things I haven’t managed to do at home in the hurly-burly of family life.
The snag is that I don’t have a permanent internet connection here. I can use the hotspot from my phone but since the house has thick stone walls this generally only works outdoors. I can send an email by standing outside the door but it’s too cold for a long session of browsing, and now it’s stopped snowing the snow is starting to melt and drip on me!
I need to pay for the girls’ music lessons, but that requires online banking.
I need to submit the last couple of months’ worth of data from my bird-watching surveys, but that is all done online.
I need to book a ticket for an event later this week, but that is available online.
I need to sort out an issue with my savings account, but I really need to access the account online to get the details so I can ask for help over the phone (I have those details on paper at home, but didn’t think of bringing them with me).
I need to look for some documents, but even those which are saved in my folders are stored on OneDrive and so although I think of them as being on my computer, they are only actually available when I am online.
The same goes for sorting through photographs or trying to find out what I have written on a subject before.
And of course reading and writing on MyLot – can’t do that either. I’m only writing this because I always write my posts in Word first, so I can write it now and upload it some time later when I get a chance.
I really should have brought my sewing machine with me because it would have been the ideal time to start on my backlog of projects!
PS: Home again now so I am able to upload this!

It's amazing how much we rely on the internet. I remember back in the 60s we were still using encyclopedias and the library for our information. Have a good day.

@Fleura That's amazing. I was surprised at how early computers were available.

Wow! That's a lot for the day, I hope you accomplished everything.
Maybe you can put your phone outside in a more safer so you can have a better signal.
In my country I used o do that a lot when we have problem with our internet connection... But I dont know in your olace, yours is snowy, while our window is sunny but this week its gloomy and sometimes there are rain showers.

It's crazy how dependent we have become on internet to get us through our daily lives. Last weekend, while I was away on a trip, our router/modem at our house quit working, and my poor girlfriend and daughter were stuck helpless because the internet didn't work and they had no service on their phones (like you, we barely get phone service inside the house, so we have to stand outside to make calls, send texts, or access our hotspot). When I got home from my trip I had to go buy a new router/modem so that we would have working internet again inside our home.
It's scary that we have become such slaves to technology.

@Fleura That's exactly what happened to me! I went to the retail store where they also have tech support people, and they told me they couldn't help me and that I had to call the main tech support people on the phone. But I didn't have a connection to be able to make the phone call! I eventually had my daughter stand outside where she could get a signal, turn on her hotspot, which my girlfriend then connected to on her phone standing beside the front door, which allowed me to then connect to her hotspot long enough to make the call.
