Called the doctor's office and was told the doctor had left for the day yesterday and could not okay my script. So, they called it in today, but were concerned as to me having so many anti-biotics. Ordered me an order for a chest X-ray. The Antibiotic they prescribed was one that I have taken a few times in the past with no problem. But when I took it before, I was not take Musinex like I have been the past few days. I took one tablet...a few minutes later my left hand started itching. It itches sometimes so didn't think much of it. Then my Right Hand started itching. Got really bad itching. So I went and put ice on my hands. Always works with the left one. They stopped itching, but then my arms started, the back of my neck started, and then my legs. When it got to my feet I called the doctors' office and they told me to go get Benadryl and Pepcid. I went to CVS and my OTC card paid for everything even though there was no marking on the shelves for OTC card. Anyway, I took 2 of them when I got into the van. My neck and arms quit itching by the time I got home. Took my legs a little longer, but all the itching has stopped, and I feel a Lot Better. Benedryl is the Bomb!! I asked if the Musinex could have caused me to have a reaction, but the nurse wasn't sure..said it shouldn't have, but this anti-biotic is pretty powerful. They gave it to me in the hospital when I had pneumonis years ago. But with this reaction...I kind of got the idea of how my circulation works. And what areas get blood first Anyway, I am good. Feeling Perky, which I haven't felt in Days!

This happened to me when I was prescribed something with sulphur in it. Turns out I was allergic to sulphur. The itching was incredible.

@JudyEv Yes it is. I haven't had any problems in the last few years, as it is documented on all my medical records. Knock on wood now with my luck! lol Itching and welps is no fun either

My niece used to break out from it, but it was actually the pink dye they use in it that was her problem. When she has had to have it in liquid form they have to get clear Benedryl.

I would not think Mucinex would cause it, but I am not a doctor or nurse. Some times we can use something and then our body changes and it cannot. I keep benadryl on hand.

Glad you are feeling better at least. Our bodies change over time and that could be some of the problem too.

I hope I never experience that, I'm funny when it comes to meds but with all the meds I take thank God It don't do that.
