A 10 year old boy who lives in Shawano County Wisconsin made a phone call to the emergency department on Thursday December 19 to ask the dispatcher who answered the phone for help in doing his math homework. The 911 dispatcher named Kim Krause told the young boy that even though 911 is for emergency calls related to life threatening situations that out of the kindness of her heart and the fact that there are a slow period of time, she contacted a deputy with the Shawano County Sheriff's Office named Chase Mason who was nearby to assist the young boy to assist him with his math problems since Chase has a stepson who also has a hard time doing math problems. After Chase met with the young boy to assist him with the math related to decimals his business card so that the police officer would be of service dealing with these kinds of homework problems even though 911 is not supposed to be used to ask for help only in situations related to life threatening situations in the future. I am sure because of the age of the child, the dispatcher and police officer were kind to him this time. Link is upi.com/4741732298400 via @upi

The parents had a hard time dealing with the same math problems the boy had. Maybe the parents did not know that they could have called a 211 and ask for a math tutor.

A 10-year-old should know not to call 911 with math problems.

That is what I was thinking since there is a 211 emergency line that is run by the United Way that could have assisted him with his math problems.

Glad they understood, I have a question why could the boy not ask his parents?

The young lad will have a high opinion of the police through them helping him in this way.

That is true since the young boy's relatives are not exactly math wizards either.

Perhaps, out of deseperation ,the child looked at ways to get things resolved. Good to see the dispatcher and police officer was kind to him and his parents. Perhaps age was a big factor here. At same time, I think schools should also be supportive to children when they have challenges. A little support from school could help some of the kids to be doing better. Again, it is interesting he did not call any of his friends or school mates. That is intriguing. There is funny and sentimental elements in this story. Nevertheless something inspiring as usual. Thanks for sharing the fun story .Enjoy the time!

That could be true that the young boy did not know that 911 is for life threatening emergencies.

It is odd since when I was his age, I would never call an emergency call to the Canal Zone police to ask for help in dealing with my homework since 911 was not around in 1971.
