Two years old and still going strong

What you see in the photo is a stump of a dead areca nut tree. It was uprooted along with a clump of mud that has stayed so far. We have just applied some clear varnish that has helped it somewhat. We did not expect it to stay so firm for two years. We have placed a container of water in the hollow and keep placing different flowers and ferns. It adorns our hall

That varnish coat helped it to remain intact.

That makes a very attractive vase. It's amazing that it is still holding together.
