Did you ever want any toys as a child but were never able to have them?

When I was a young kid, I wanted to collect the G.I. Joe's figures. However, I did not have them because my parents would not buy them for me. For them, it is better to buy food to eat than this kind of aspiration. That is the reason why I did not insist on asking for them. Now, I realize that money is really an important thing. We need to know how to use it. Any thoughts about it? Would you most like to own an item of entertainment memorabilia?

The one toy I really wanted as a kid but never got was a cotton candy maker. I got some kind of snow cone maker which really wasn't a great toy for December. It must have cost slot less than the cotton candy maker.

@snowy22315 did you ever buy yourself one as an adult? I just saw really cute tiny machines on Amazon.

@shaggin No, they are expensive and you have to buy the sugars as a ell.

Did you have other toys I hope. Food definitely is more important especially if the toys are very costly and you are very poor..

We did have some toys during our childhood years. They were enough to play with. But then, we were educated that food needs to be prioritized at an early age.

I was an only child up until I turned 15. My brother was born 4 days before my birthday. I usually got what I asked for when I was little.

@Shavkat And that is good parenting, to teach the children respect for what they have and not to always want better. I was sick when me kids were growing up with friends with divorced parents. They were always trying to out-do each other and basically "buy" the kids with expensive gifts.

I am glad that both of you got them. Although my parents tried their best to give something for us. We are content with whatever they give.

No, not really. I learned about money at an early age and how to wait for things.

@Shavkat My mom would have a panic attack if I so much as stepped outside our fenced in yard.

@kaylachan It seems like all mothers are like this. They tend to be so attached to their kids, which is given.

During my childhood years, we usually went from one place to another with our parents. It is because they are having their business at that time. I had learned how important the money is.

You said it on point. It is almost the end of the year and I have not accomplished most of my personal goals in life. I need to be wiser next year.

I had my tough moments as well as a child. I wanted to have figurines from Kinder Surprise and after age 8 , buying Kinder was tough due to money crunches. I however, loved the toys from Kinder between 4-8 and I am grateful for that period. I loved the WWE figurines as well but never could buy them due to the cost. After getting my job, I did save to fulfill the desires and even went in depths to get things from ebay. It did cost money but I wanted to get that desires fulfilled and got them. Perhaps , I am more content with those desires now. And I do have my collection of toys and figurines froma long time. Well, enjoy your time!

I am glad that you are. In time, I will do the same thing. For now, I need to focus more on other things. It needs to focus more on these things before having my desires in life.

Of course, its the famous "Play Do" of my time. And my mom will always said it is not good I'll just buy you snacks. Lol! But I am very thankful by that kind of disciplining of my parents to me specially my mom, because it helps me to understand there are things that are not really matter.

It is also the same thing with my dear parents. They used to give their wisdom of thought to certain things. My siblings and I understood we do need to demand that much.

We have some relatives who usually give presents from America before. These are my father's siblings. At some point, we were grateful with their simple gesture in giving.

Children don't always understand how parents sometimes have to struggle for money.

You said it right. The good thing is my biological parents did not have the hard time to educate us about this concern. If I really want something, I can have some part-time job to earn some money and buy it.

All the kids when I was growing up had Ataris, and I really wanted one. We didn't have anything for a long time but eventually we got an Intellivision, which wasn't an Atari, but close enough.

I can relate to this. We never had any electronic games during our childhood years. But then, we did have them when my parents started to earn handsomely.

money is important, i agree. it's better to have food than toys. i hope you had other toys thank God, we always had enough of everything and i was mostly getting whatever i wanted - but not immediately. sometimes i would be told to wait until paycheck or something like that, but i would get what i want if it was available in my country

I am glad that you had those things. I am not saying that we never had toys before. We did have but those were not my preference during my childhood years.
