I love reading interesting facts about things pertaining to Christmas and other holidays. I found some more and want to share them with you:
* Actually the original Santa Claus was St. Nicolas who gave all of his inheritance to the poor and those in need. In Dutch his name is Sinter Claus which later became Santa Claus.
* The image of the plump and jolly Santa Claus that we all enjoy today came partly from the old Coca-Cola ads. Illustrator Haddon Sundblom drew him that way in 1931.
* In 1939 a copywriter for Montgomery Ward wrote Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer into a children's story used to promote the store.
* Rudolph and the eight reindeer had many names like Rollo, Reginald, Flossie, Steady, Pacer, Glossy, Scratcher, Ready, Steady, Feckless and Fireball.
* Christmas songs are played in stores and on the radio all season long. The song "Silent Night" is actually the most recorded song in history. It has had more than 733 versions copyrighted since 1978.
The picture is from my collection.

Lovely info thanks Celtic. I thought Donner and Blitzen were some of the reindeers names.
