Happy Saturday and happy weekend to you all!
We slept in this morning which wasn't really in my plans, but hey. Sometimes it is necessary. Although I am used to staying up late at night, last night we were threw a little curve ball.
When I decided to call it a night, I went outside to get my dog and bring him to his kennel, known around here as his "Hilton Hotel." It is a big kennel and he has blankies inside to keep him warm and cozy. He usually piles them up and shoves them away from him. Anyway, we were to hit a low of right at freezing, so I wanted to bring him in.
After I put the leash hook on his collar and just as I went to take the hook off (his lead), I realized I did not take the right hook off. I took the leash hook off and off the brat took off. I guess I took the other one off first and didn't realize it. I stayed calm and tried to get him to come back and get in the Hilton Hotel. He loves that thing and usually can't wait to get in it. However, he had other plans last night. When I saw that I was having no luck with him, I poked my head inside and asked my husband for a hand in getting him in the kennel. When I got back into the yard, he was way out in the field and headed into the wood. Grr.
It took us a good 45 minutes, basically waiting him out. He was apparently having fun exploring the woods. to get him back in the yard. My husband came and got me and told me he was back in the yard. He normally doesn't listen to my husband at all and was the case again. He discovered the rooster in my original grow out pen for the baby chicks and started ripping a hole in one of the sides.
When I got outside he stopped --knew he was in trouble and let me get a hold of his collar. We then went to the Hilton Hotel. Unfortunately, he didn't get a cookie left on his pillow last night. And hopefully, this will be the last jaunt in the woods for awhile. It was way to cold for that at 2 am!
So with that being said, the flea market is put off once again. We'll try to make tomorrow!

I wouldn't want to be chasing animals at 2 am.

@kaylachan The hubster went and moved him tonight. He had to go outside anyway so no use in both of us getting cold, right?

No chasing. I'm not going into the woods on land that is not mine in the dark. Heck no!! I just waited outside for him to come back. He has a tendency to get into the chicken coop if you are not there waiting for him, thanks to some other stray dogs that taught him naughty ways.

@wolfgirl569 He loves it until it drops to freezing usually. In the mornings, he is like me and perfectly content to sleep late and not get out of his kennel until he is darned ready!

@Deepizzaguy I just can't get in gear with this cold and gloomy weather. I'll be so glad when winter is OVER!

I'm glad you were able to get your dog corralled. I would have been frantic. Have a good day.

@LindaOHio That is for sure. They depend on us for everything, but give so much in return.

@kareng All dogs should be spoiled. They give us so much love in return.

That rascally dog wanted to stretch those legs and explore at your expense. And it can be a helpless feeling tying to reel them in.

I'm glad you waited for your dog despite the cold, and I'm relieved he's safe from the woods. I hope he behaves now, haha!
